WICKENBURG, AZ - The Webb Center is seeking submissions for a mural design that celebrates the performing arts. Local amateur or professional artists, including students, are welcome to submit design proposals.
The design should incorporate the elements and energy of the Webb Center’s arts in education programs. These include “Arts for Kids” in-classroom workshops and special student performances, “Art. Works.” after school classes, and “Camp Imagination,” the annual two-week summer arts camp.
Under the direction of local muralist, Tamara Thomas, approximately 8 students, grades 7 –12, will create the mural during their 12 hours of Camp Imagination (June 7-16) class time. The mural will be installed on a 10’ high x 24’ wide textured wall in the Webb Center theatre.
Mixed media, such as paint, mosaic, or metal sculpture that can apply to a wall is welcome. The mural should be installed and completed by Wednesday, June 16, in order to be “premiered” the night of Camp Imagination’s culminating live performance of “101 Dalmatians.”
Please submit design entries along with a materials list and specifications by Friday, May 14 to the Webb Center Box Office located at 2001 W Wickenburg Way (2nd floor Meridian Bank) or to Wickenburg Art Club member Helen Baker (928-231-4330). You will be contacted if your entry is the winning design and receive two tickets to a 2010-11 season Webb Center performance of your choice. If you have any questions please contact the Webb Center at 928-684-6624.
